Madeira airport operating normally after bad weather this morning

The strong wind that has continued overnight in the area of Madeira International Airport as the recent bad weather continues had already caused three cancellations by late afternoon yesterday, Monday, January 15th.

Later, the Diário reported that a TAP plane, which had diverted earlier to Porto Santo and another, coming from Porto, had managed to land at Madeira International Airport, whose operation is being conditioned by the influence of depression Irene in the weather in the archipelago.

According to the ANA- Aeroportos de Portugal website, two incoming flights were cancelled after 8;00 pm. People travelling today are advised to check their flight’s status here before travelling. Their website also advises on possible inconvenience due to the ongoing re-surfacing of access roads in front of the airport – although in my experience this has not caused any delay so far.

The latest information as very early this morning is below:

Landings and take-offs at Madeira-Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport are proceeding normally after having been affected on Tuesday morning due to the bad weather in the region.
