The 13th of August saw the celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Grace at The Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Brentwood Park.
As you well know, Our Lady is the special patron of the Church, and all of the feasts of Our Lady have a special place in the hearts of the Parishioners. The Feast was celebrated this month with solemn Mass and a most beautiful procession, that was followed by a gathering in the Church Hall, which also served to raise some funds for the Church.
There were some amazing Portuguese foods on sale, and the people made sure to take good advantage of it all, enjoying the Pregos and a delicious Caldo Verde, as well as various drinks and tea and coffee to go along with the farturas and pasteis de nata. As always DJ Vix was there to add music to the event, and I must admit that I cannot think of a time when he did not show his support to the Church and make sure there was a really awesome vibe to enjoy!
There was also something (For the ladies?) in the shape of the wonderful Miguel Pregeiro singing – and let’s just admit it, he really does have a voice we all love! Added to the very Portuguese flavor of the evening was the Racho Folklorico, and I think that no event anywhere is really Portuguese without a Rancho dancing. This one was from the Casa de Madeira (Pretoria), and it was great to see them keeping the culture and history alive.
The community spirit that the Church has is heartwarming indeed, and it just goes to show what a great community you can forge with the combination of faith and friendship. It was
great to see many people there that I know, and it was wonderful to have the pleasure of being there. I certainly hope that Our Lady of Grace blesses you all and brings great joy to your lives.
